Such a unit must be ready for all
possibilities – for operation in different facilities, also
the ones located underground, therefore the policemen assume
different situations, which might happen, and practise
combat methods. The policemen, who are to serve in the
counter-terrorist unit are selected very carefully. Their
abilities are assessed by specialists in different fields.
The policemen must pass psychological tests and go through
accurate medical examinations. They are required to have
exceptional psycho-physical predispositions, as anyone who
would not meet such restrictive requirements could
constitute a possible threat for his own colleagues in
combat situations. The service in such units is done, among
others, by specialists in hand to hand fights and climbing,
frogmen, snipers, parachutists, pyrotechnicians and
specially trained drivers. Their service consists in
exercises for the most part. In the course of the service,
the policemen are constantly verified – if any of the
counter-terrorist soldiers stops meeting the specified
criteria, he must give up the service of this type.
